CHURCH UNITY & RECONCILIATION COMMISSION

The commission is responsible for:

1. Ensuring that unity prevails among all EFZ members in their individual and organizational capacity
2. Preventing all potential areas of conflict within the organization
3. Mediating on all dispatching members in their capacity as individuals or organizations
4. Ensuring that all implementation programmes and activities are of a national nature and that no particular region receives unnecessarily favoured attention
5. Reconciling relations between the Church and State, EFZ and other ecumenical bodies, EFZ and other stakeholders
6. Addressing all national issues that can cause trauma, conflict or insecurity e.g. land issue, Gukurahundi, demobilization of war veterans
7. Responding through the General Secretary on issues of national significance that cause national crisis (Close liaison with Theological Reflection)
8. Establish a Peace Mediation and Conflict Resolution Centre through the secretariat with a national scope
9. Hosting a National Peace Convention every year, together with the Theological Reflection Commission
10. Being involved in conjunction with the Theological Reflection Commission on all conflict transformation programmes and activities nationally
11. Ensuring that there are specific and timely programmes that ensures the perpetuation of unity
12. Recruiting new members to join the EFZ in their organizational or individual capacities
13. Highlight in many fora the importance and benefits derived from EFZ membership and affiliation
14. Remobilizing at all times members who will have shown lack of commitment. This can be achieved through provincial structures and the secretariat
15. Ensuring that the brands of EFZ continue to be relevant to the time of operation
16. Ensuring that no form of segregation is allowed towards new members, small members or individuals who are full members of EFZ
17. Ensuring that the structures nationally at provincial, district and Church level are addressing the needs of the relevant constituencies. That each province has a functional provincial committee and that each district is represented and is functioning in all the Key Result Areas. This role is facilitated through the Programmes Officer of each Key Result Areas, The Programs Managers and the General Secretary.
