Commission’s Mandate
The mandate of the research and development commission includes generating, pooling existing information and disseminating the information so that it is available, accessible and usable.
a. Generating information
Gather primary data on the harvest force (the church) and the harvest field (demographic). Carry out surveys, field studies, case studies, consultative and focus group meetings.
b. Pooling Information
Bring to one place existing information that is relevant to EFZ. Set up a resource center with at least four computers for internet access and a computerised database.
c. Disseminating information
Through hard and soft means that include a periodic newsletter, research reports, newspaper/magazine articles and web resources.
Interface with other Commissions
The research commission, like the funding, plays a support role by providing and managing information that is useful to and facilitates the frontline programs. It is therefore necessary to identify the information needs of the other commissions before coming up with a detailed plan.
